[Windows 7] Changing Client Usernames

Thread Starter

NOTE: If you change your username during a WU, the points will go to the new name.

Client v7:

Client the "Configure" button, then go to the "Identity" tab.

• Change the username to OCNChimpin
• Change the Team number to 37726
• Change the passkey to fe4ad3d7c2360a8cda89eaeab2b541f2

Untitled.png

FAH GPU Tracker v2:

Press the "SetUp" button, choose "Configure" and go to the "Tracker Settings" tab.

• Change the username to OCNChimpin

• Change the Team number to 37726
• Change the passkey to fe4ad3d7c2360a8cda89eaeab2b541f2

SMP/Console GPU:

Rightclick your SMP client shortcut and choose Properties. At the end of the "Target" field, enter the -configonly flag:

Now restart the client and it will go through the set up again.

• Change the username to OCNChimpin

• Change the Team number to 37726
• Change the passkey to fe4ad3d7c2360a8cda89eaeab2b541f2

Press Enter to keep the rest of the settings the same. Remove the flag, and you'll continue folding when you restart the client.

System-tray GPU/Unicore:

Much simpler. Run the client, and rightclick the icon in the system tray. Choose "Configure":

• Change the username to OCNChimpin

• Change the Team number to 37726
Passkey not required

No need for a passkey, since there are no bonus points for the GPU client.

PS3:

• Open up "Life with Playstation"
• Go to the Folding@Home channel (hold square and go to the last channel)
• Go to options (hold Triangle)
• Choose "Identity" (5th option)
• "Change donor name"> OCNChimpin

• Go back (press circle)
• "Join an Exisiting Team"> Team 37726

Will these settings take place for the WU that is currently folding or will it start on the next WU?

Honestly, no idea. I think it takes effect for the next WU. I'll add something on -oneunit though.

It'll give credit immediately to the new name. I'm going to switch some usernames today over to OCNChimpin, then some more before the contest.

There are many of us that are using VMWare with -bigadv so perhaps the instruction on how to change that username should be added as well?

I don't know how either, I'll switch my win-smp over easily though.

For the bigadv users, just boot up the VM and type http://ip/ into a web browser and change your name. Then hit the Reboot VM after Submit checkbox, not sure exactly what it says, but it's something like that. Then just submit the changes and your good to go. Also, don't forget to change the passkey while you're in there.

Ok, here are the instructions from Sniper's thread (adapted a bit):

Quote:
When you first boot up the virtual machine it will tell you the HTTP address. The format should be:

http://ip/

IP is the IP address assigned to the virtual machine. Now type it into a web browser.

Enter your username (OCNChimpin), Team ID (37726), and passkey (PM Mort if you don't have one) and then click Submit.
That work? And could someone get me a ScreenShot that I could add in please?

Zodac's instructions should work. I believe the older versions of the vm dont have a reboot button on the web config.

I currently run the latest version, so if someone gets stuck on a step with an older one let me know so I can redownload the old one and try.

This is what you should see when its running.

Type reboot and hit enter.

You should now see it starting the reboot process (takes about a minute to allow the clients to close properly).

Personally, I just setup a 2nd VM for the CC and I'll resume the other one after the CC is over.
