1. use utorrent
2. forward your ports
3. clear your firewall
4 change options in utorrent to allow more global connects and upload slots
5. if you have sp2, check this info about tcp connection limit, patch it because Microsoft limits speed for things like torrents by default in sp2 unless you do this- http://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=1497
6. thank me later

Ok Seen as i was correct on the ports lol I thought I would help you some more. Ports 6881-6889 are now what people call "dangerious and stupid (D&S) ports" the US goverment watch traffic on very popular ports and most ISPS put a speed limit on them. The recommended number is now between 10000 and 25000. Pick one port and set it in Azureus and then goto your Router if you have one and set the port (12556 for example) open for TCP and UDP.

If you have a Firewall like myself ZoneAlarm you have to do 2 things. 1 - Open the Program to Everything but sending emails and also goto advanced and allow it to use All Ports from All IPs. You should be now in a nice ferrari now instead of a horse and cart

TIP: If you use only one computer for Bittorrent and downloads goto your Router find an option called DMZ and put that computer IP into it. This will make that PC outside the NAT and its like you don't have a router Use it myself and I'm very happy. This will also make your PC have NO FIREWALL so i suggest you get one - do not use the SP2 one see below... There are others better with advanced configs like: ZoneAlarm and Agnitum both completely FREE!

TIP 2: Do not use SP2 Windows Firewall it is not very good for Bittorrent and you may not see the differance until you shut it off and restart.

Okay for one, there's no need to have more than 1 port open. Bititorrent can only use 1 at a time so more than one port is totally overkill.

Ok right I took some screen shots to help you put Trusted to Medium and Internet to High.. then goto..

Program Control and goto Bitcomet or Azureus which ever you have and set it all to allow EXCEPT email block that.

Now just follow my images below

Now you have a good dam firewall working with bittorrent enjoy
