hey check this page out guys. the 6800gs is compared to an ultra and nearly matches it in most catergories. it is basically on par with a 6800gt, give or take. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/6800gs/4

so the 6900gt is not definately better and is definately not a better purchase for the money!

oh and this page. the cores are different, thats why the 6800gs does so well without the 4 pipes. http://www.cooltechzone.com/Reviews/...00602022177/3/

It also says that it's better than an x850xtpe, which is utter crap. I love nVidia, but the 6 series can't touch a x850xtpe.
6800 Ultra > 6800GT > 6800GS > 6800 Vanilla > 6800XT/LE
^All stock

And to clear it up, an unlocked 6800GS IS a 6800GT. Same core, higher clock speeds, same OC. The only (stock) difference is the pipelines and the clock speeds.

A 7800GTX gives off slightly higher frame rates compared to 7800GT at stock. In general, it's about a 5 frame increase across all boards, but of course it varies by resolution and image quality.

Get the GTX if you have the money, but if you don't, you can get a 7800GT and try overclocking to GTX speeds. This is if you are going for PCIe, of course. If you're going for the top-end card that is AGP, then it is the 7800GS without a doubt.

Yea go for the 7800GT, great card. You don't really need the overclocked version. You could buy the cheaper one and overclock it.
