9800pro - 20mhz oc... worth it?

Thread Starter
So I have an ATI 9800pro w/ the R360 core (confirmed @ ripping heatsink off) and I can only get about a 20mhz overclock out of the ram and core (tested independently)

The core has a waterblock on it and the ram is bare... I have two questions.

1) is the 20mhz increase in both the ram and core worth it? Will it make a difference in games (say bf2)?

2) how much would copper ramsinks help increase the oc for both the ram and core?

Thanks.

You should definitely be getting higher speeds on both. You might want to consider RAMsinks, as they might boost you memory speeds. 20MHz can add a few extra points in benchmarks, but not a whole lot. What are you using to overclock?

A 20Mhz overclock will help LOTS. I boosted my 6800NU 20Mhz @ core and gained a couple thousand points in AquaMark3! A RAM overclock will help, but not as much as a core oc.

thanks for the replies guys.

right now I'm just using ATITool to try and find my max core/mem... I'd like to bios flash to the XT but that won't happen with results like this.

I might have to use radlinker or something to set the 20mhz overclock if it really will benefit from it as game suggests.
