I want this comp to be able to multi task Good as well as play games. As i understand Pentiums own at multi tasking and play games at acceptable rates.Any thoughts on that??

Well last month i decided one day when i got pissed off b/c my mom wanted to use our family computer( its a decent machine... P4 540 @3.4ghz 1gig ddr400 w/ a x700 pro... It was a gateway though ) i liked it but i didnt like sharing.
So i decided to build a comp. Then a week later i pick up this comp im using right now for only 40$ to hold me over. But anyways at first i just wanted a Amd setup now i dont konw for sure... B/c i recently bought a Pentium D 820 for 146$ on ebay( it was a steal).I wanted to get a Nvidia card but ive never had one b4... do now i think im going to get a Crossfire readyboard and upgrade later...Wut DO u think about crossfire

Well here is my build ....

Start out with the CPU: Pentium D 820 160$ with shipping

Motherboard (looks good for the price... if i want to later on i can crossfire):

Video card Ati X850 xt:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102483

Ram going with
DDR2:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231017

CPU FAN havent decided yet thinking of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835106061

Hard drive 160gig maxtor:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822144182

2 cases in mind... First is this one
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811156177
second
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811156181

only problem is i dont think the powersupplies that come with these cases can handle Cross fire or SLI from my understanding(if otherwise please tell me)
Any suggestings on a Good But cheap Powersupplie that can handle CrossFIre or SLI

561.75 is my cart at newegg +160$ i paid for my CPU already =721.57

i still dont know if i should get the intel setup...No games need the Dual cores or the DDR2 memory yet anyways. but i think i if build this computer it will be able to play the games of tom.

Good job on finding that CPU. However, none of the links you posted work. You must have missed something at the end of the address. I personally think you should go for SLI. Crossfire is new and isn't as high-performing as SLI. Get a decent SLI mobo, get a CM Centurion 5 and a Sunbeam NUUO. Then, get a 6600GT or a 6800GS. Those are better than the X850 in the sense that they support SM3.0, which is a good idea to have these days.

Ive head nothing but good things about the big typhoon so id say thats the way to go as far as vid cards and mobo go i would go with a sli mobo and a 7800 gt and get another in sli later. But hey thats jsut me. In terms of ati cards though thats a good choice.
