Best socket A overclock? - Page 2

I had my barton 2500 up to 2.475GHz (not 2.5Gigs, and I tried ) air cooled, I think at 1.7V on an Asus A7N8x-x . This is clearly not the best, how can I beat a 3 gigs mbarton...

I've gotten to 1.8 on my 2000+ Thoroughbred. It's not that fast, but my mobo doesn't have any AGP/PCI locks on it.

I've booted into windows with my 3200+ barton mobile at 2.8ghz. I also have a 1700+ JIUHB DLT3C that's gotten close, but its one of those steppings that people got over 3.0ghz with special cooling. I usually run them both at 2.4ghz with slow fan air cooling. (actually I have two mobile barton's and the 2nd one runs at 2.4ghz in my HTPC with a fan that spins down most of the time so its absolutely silent. Essentially heat sink only). Just upgraded to an opty 148 (waiting on PCI-e graphics card) though..

Is there any corrulation of vcore to mhz? I never mess with that because i don't know what it does. As a rule of thumb, i just don't do stuff like that

Yes, once your system gets unstable, it needs a few more volts, so just up the vcore very slightly, and see if it boots. If it does, try to pass prime, if it does your great, if not a bit more volts. Never go over 1.8 volts for a socket A though.

shoot, I remember the old T-Birds and early Durons, pump the Vcore to 2.2V and get great cooling, you could overclock FOREVER!
