Asus A8N SLI Premium vs Deluxe

Thread Starter
OK I've narrowed my motherboard search down to the Asus A8N. After researching the basic SLI and Deluxe models I've found a lot of complaints from people about the Northbridge cooling fan. I like the idea of the heat pipe with the Premium. Is there any other advantages it has besides the easy switching of SLI modes from the basic SLI version? Or am I better of getting the A8N SLI and just upgrading the chipset heatsink?

The chipset fan on the Deluxe version is prone to fail and is very loud. The heatpipe on the premium version is quieter and there is no failure worry. I tossed off a Deluxe version I had after six months do to the increasing noise of the chipset fan.

You have mentioned the two major differences between the premium and deluxe. Those being the heatpipe and the lack of switching the sli card on the premium.

For myself, after the noisy chipset debacle i moved to DFI.

The Premium is the best way to go between the two. No worries about a chipset fan going out and the more you pay is worth the security, also it makes for 1 less fan in the case. Other than that they are practically the same board, just the Heatpipe and the non-card switching for SLI

The only jump would be between the SLI-Premium and the A8N32-SLI, btu the only real thing there is dual 16x PCI-E slots, but if you're going with either the Deluxe or the Premium, spend the litle extra for the Premium
