BF2 Trouble

Thread Starter
BF2 often just freezes while I am playing. I am forced to manually restart as the entire computer freezes. I am not sure why this is happening and I don't think there is anything wrong with my hardware. I have the Nvidia Auto OC on for my 6800...

Any ideas, is this a known problem.

OC'ed? its probably because of instability from raising the clocks too high

I am using the NVIDIA Auto Overclocking... Could there still be instability?

Yes. BF2 is very finnicky when it comes to OCing. I have to set mine back to stock every time I play it.

Not really, I have my GPU clocked crazy and dont have any problems...the only time I got crashing problems was when I upgraded to SP2.

Best bet is to reinstal the game and hte patches in correct order 1.03 and 1.12 and you should be fine, it solved my problem

I noticed you have 2 gigs ram, is that 2 sticks or 4 sticks? Mine would freeze with no oc with 4 sticks 512 but if I take 2 out it runs fine oc'ed to the max with no problems.

You're right, it could be the memory controller not being able to handle everything

Do you have hyper threading on? if you do when you start the game minimize it, open up task manager, go to processes, right click on BF2 and click set affinity and set it to either cpu1 or 0 but not both. You will have to do this every time you start the game.

HT is off... I think I am just going to reinstall BF2... What a pain!
