Foxconn Katana Club - Page 10

Yeah, I don't think Foxconn has ANY Quantum-series boards for AMD.

ASUS has the Crosshair IV though:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-644-_-Product

Edit: Wow. I decided to run a memtest for the hell of it, wondering how high my RAM could go.

And I got.. an error?

So I bumped it down to my normal OC. Still got an error! The other night I found my OC wasn't stable, too.

So I loaded up windows, and ran P95 large-FFTs. No errors whatsoever (because it doesn't test RAM), where with blend I get an error within seconds.

So I loosed up my RAM timings to CAS 9 and 1520 Mhz, overclocked my CPU to 4.2Ghz, and tried blend. No errors yet!

I REALLY think that's what has been holding my OC back, and I can't believe it took this long.

Thank you SO much, Voltage Drop, for bringing up my intrest in my RAM.

Also, for some reason my board doesn't POST if I change the multi from anything but 22. Figured that out too during all this.

Glad to hear it Jyr RAM will definitely hold you back if it isnt tuned right when OC'ing. As long as there are no errors with your RAM and your CPU is passing stress tests as well then your OC should be rock solid. I also have trouble finding anything stable under x22 but I believe that it is the CPU and not the board. What is your BCLK @191? You said you knew your RAM could hit 1500 and it did, Nice work!

Yeah! It's gone about 2 hours at 191 BCLK. Before it'd error within 20 seconds.

Gonna spend the next day or two finding out what this chip can really do.

These little chips are bad, man Ive gotten it up to 4.62GHz but it was starting to get hot to I rebooted and lowered it down to 4.4GHz/1.4V and my temps were in the mid 70's under load. Once you get to a certain point with these i3's, it takes a lot more voltage to get them higher. As you can see I hit 4.23@ 1.293V all day but 300 more MHZ and I needed another 100mV. I can guarantee that under water, 5GHz will be easy to hit. Im going to DICE it out once I get an 860 and see what this little chip is really made of

So far so good. 1.35v/1.32vtt. Doing 3-hour P95 runs to see how low I can get the voltage stable.

Anything higher pretty much crashes violently in windows, but once I get a CPU block I'll push it to 1.4v and see what I can do.

Edit: Or.. not. Windows crashed at anything less than 1.35v.

They're about 60C, give or take 2C. HT is on, of course.

6-hour prime stable so far, and I think that's about as far as I'm going to take it. So boring watching my CPU doing calculations.

I *think* I've got all the extra Mhz I can out of my system for a 24/7 OC. I think I can still take the VTT down though.

Now I just wish my HD 5770 would come in the mail. I ordered it from some company on eBay like 2 weeks ago and I can't get a response out of them, while 200 other people haven't had any issues with them

Oh yeah, what does CPU-Z say your QPI speed is at? Mine's like 3400 or something.

Yeah I usaully keep VTT about 50mV under the core clock. Though take it down until it isnt stable anymore. Looks as if you've aleady found your Vcore limit. Let me know when you call it stable and I'll update you on the list

My flaming Katana ( GTI) wont hold an OC. Its making me sad. I Pulled it out and set my LCS up and when it put it back together it will no longer OC at all. Its rock stable @ stock I even tried the bios that it shipped with all the way up to the latest and same thing.
