video editing software?

Whats good video editing software?

Im trying to use windows movie maker to edit some videos together and put music in.. But everytime I edit and trim videos, when I save it and play it back, its completely different then it was when I made it!

example, say I have a 15 second video. And I tried to cut the middle 5 seconds out..

Well it ends up playing like the last 5 seconds.. instead of the middle 5 seconds that WAS edited out! lol

Also every video I make, makes my pc lag like ****.. I dont know what gives.. This really sucks, I dont get it..
I just downloaded like every codec pack I could think of, same bs..

edit: damn this program really pisses me off.. Can't believe I spent soo much time making a video for it to be completly wrong and horrible..
Just went back and tried to make a new video real fast.. Took a 35 second clip and deleted the first 5 seconds. Played it back and it somehow lost the first 20 seconds of the video!

Adobe Premiere is good... I haven't tested many new video editing softwares but I'm trying to get into that a little more. It'll give me something else I can offer to the bands I work with. Yar. I'll let you know if I find anything else.

I got Ulead video studio version 7 and it has a lot of options for video editing this of course is a full version of the software. However i did find on there web site a trial of Ulead video studio version 9 http://www.ulead.com/vs/trial.htm not sure on the limitations if any but it should do for what you want.

EDIT just read the site and you need to login in order to download it
