Best Router Settings for Gaming?

Hello,
What settings should i turn off on my router to have the best pings possible in game? I want the connection to be like I'm connected to my modem without all that firewall, qos, and all that other fancy ****. I really don't care about my security and I'm fine with leaving it on DMZ. I'm sick and tired of having to google every single port and entering it as it is a tedious task. The only reason why i have a router in the first place is so that my other computer can share the internet. I have a Dlink DIR-615 on the latest firmware and both of my computers are connected wired. I have windows 7 64bit if that helps. I'm chosen as host in MW2 a lot and even though the pings look fine (most of the time 4 bars(less than 100ms) for everyone), everyone complains about lag. There are no bandwidth hogging applications running in the background.

I dont have a router, too cheap to buy one at the moment just for my xbox.
What I do is share the connection through the PC ethernet port.

But beside that, if you want best why not connect it directly when your hosting to eliminate any lag.

How do you share a connection through the port? There's only one port.

To share a connection through your computer, your motherboard needs to have to LAN/Ethernet ports. If yours does not, you can't. It is as simple as that.

The only thing you can really do is try to get lower pings/latency, is give yourself Quality of Service or open up ports. This site will help you setup port forwarding for almost any router available.

Also, people most likely complain about lag because your upload speed isn't sufficient enough to host a server.

Routers add less than 1ms of latency.... while they provide a hardware firewall. I would always run a router and not directly expose a machine to the Internet...
