Any plans to ditch the IDE optical drives for SATA ones?

Also, it looks like your PSU is mounted upside down. Fan should be pointing down, it intakes air through the vent in the bottom of your Scout and blows it out the back.

Be sure to stop by the Official CoolerMaster Storm Scout Owners thread, it's the first link in my sig. There's a lot of cool peeps and awesome mods in there.

Yeah I had my psu the right-side down when I first installed it, but I couldn't hide my wires with it like that. It seemed like the wires were gonna restrict the air flow so I flipped it and re-ran my wires behind the back plate. . . Do you think its going to cause some serious damage the way it is right now? I have a fan on the side panel that blows directly on the psu. I figured that would be sufficient.....

As far as the optical drives go... Yeah, at some point I will. But that's not on the top of my "to do" list right now. My next thing will be to build a cpu/gpu liquid cooling system. My GPU runs extremely hot, so that is something i gotta take care soon.

Ill have to go check out that thread. thanks

This is a CM 690 II advanced not a scout. After looking at that thread, I kinda wish I would have bought one now.

Could have sworn your sig said Storm Scout, so that's pretty much what my advice was based off of in regards to the PSU.

If your case does have that mesh on the bottom for the PSU fan like the Scout does, it is more optimal to mount it fan-side down. Reason for this is because not only does it get fresh air, but it's also not hogging air from the side-panel fan that is meant for your video card(s).

Either way you mount it, you should be fine for the most part...but I'd be weary of what it's doing to your video card. If you're heavy in to gaming, or running a video overclock, you may be starving that video card of much-needed fresh air and may run the risk of overheating it/frying it. If your temps are fine, and your PSU isn't getting super hot...then there should be no problem.

Edit : Just read that your video card runs extremely hot. This could very well be because your PSU is sucking up all the air from your side-panel fan. Take note of your current GPU idle temp, flip the PSU, then check again...you may notice a drop.

I have this board with a 1090T and some OCZ Black Edition memory The memory is supposed to be good to 1600. One thing I don't understand is when someone says to run the memory at say 8-8-8-24, what settings are they referring to exactly? hat's just 4 settings, what about the rest of the settings? Anyone else running OCZ black edition memory on this board? What timings and voltage are you using?

This computer runs great and handles anything I can throw at it, but I'm compelled to make it faster. I'm ready to start overclocking it, I just want to be clear on all of this memory setting stuff before I start messing with it.

I think your best bet is to check out the RAM section here, or even view other people's results with that RAM on the manufacturer forum.

Thread Starter
Motherboard supposed to run mem up to 1800mhz, only way to find out is, play around with it. I am pretty sure 1600mhz memory will go up to 1800 with proper timings.

For those of you that have done overclocks with this board, check out my help-needed thread...

Could use some advice, seems like my RAM settings are between me and that stable 4.0GHz.
