no its not, in fact on the msi site they only have 2 different ram with 1600mhz and none for anything above that so I don't think the qvl is very useful.

On the web there are few ppl with the same situation as mine, bsod a lot of times, with the same board. some say its the mb and some say its the ram. If I don't change the ram timing the mb reads 11-11-11-xx which is ridiculously high compare to the factory default timing.

maybe im the unlucky one =( I'm using 1333mhz with 9-9-9-24 and that's the highest stable configuration I can get.

http://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=139251.0

Apparently a lot of ppl have similar problems, bsod a lot, won't post etc. Just search 890fxa-gd70 on the msi forum there are a lot of people with those kinds of issues, the above links were three of them, the op of the first link even had the same blue screen errors as I did.

Should I rma this board? or should I just use my current configuration and keep the board? 1333mhz with 9-9-9-24 and 1600mhz with 7-8-7-20 seems like a big difference to me, but if I do rma this board I'm not getting the same one, and I like the layout and features of this board and I don't wanna go through the rma trouble. =(

I'm running my RAM @ 1600MHz / 9-9-9-24 / 1.5v. I haven't tried to adjust it at all, because it seems any time people touch the overclock settings the MOSFETs about catch fire and the board craps out...just like the first one I had to RMA through newegg.

My motherboard fried when I overclocked it only a little bit(nothing but cpu fsb, cpu mutli and cpu voltage were touched...nb was default and everything). It had something to do with the 8pin...when it was in, the board would trigger the PSU protection. When it was unplugged, everything would power up...PC wouldn't boot obviously.

In my case, I honestly don't know what happened. The only thing that makes sense, and is between the 8pin of the CPU and the CPU itself...is the MOSFETs. But I had no way of knowing if it was actually the MOSFETs that went, and if it was their design/placement that made them fail due to overheating.

If I had to bet my chips on something, it'd be the MOSFETs. I guess you could just speak to them about that issue since it does make sense that it would be the culprit in all these failures.

thanks turkfx, my problem is pretty much what I said before.

"Hi guys, I just bought this board for my new built, but it keeps blue screen on me with memory management or bad pool header or system service exception etc. I can't set my ram to the factory default timing (7-8-7-20), so I'm now using 8-8-8 and the auto tras gives me 29, i ran memtest and found no error. I even got blue screen during clean windows 7 installation. At first I thought it was the ram issue, but I did a little search on the web and found some other people with the same board having the same issue. Do you guys have the same issue? Should I rma this board? "

Also, two days after I started using this board there was a very loud pop sound came from the desktop and then the computer restarts, but everything is still working properly. My guess is that it came from the motherboard, what might cause that?
