a friend of mine is running 4 sticks CL8 CR 1T, he has a 1055 @3.8 1.4v. Using a crosshair of course.

The problem here is lack of support, msi should be better than foxconn in this matter.
Also there is big Vdroop here, cpu-z shows always much lower voltage in cpu.

I think MSI's Live Update windows flashing utility will only work with official BIOSs. If you want to use the betas then place them onto a usb drive and use the flash utility located in the BIOS setup.

Have you had a chance to test your memory in a crosshair yet? What is the model number of your Flares? I see two different models available.

tried the new bios... nothing. I ended up disabling crossfire ( and pulled away the xfire cables to be sure) and using a single card while leaving the other plugged... the system does not hang with the same annoying frequency, but it does hang again... this morning, for instance, new bsod, new dump, always the same atikmdag.sys, but there's only one card... i'm starting to think it's the new 5770 that has issues, since it's the one tha'ts active at the moment any thoughts?

i saw people having memory issues, here's my two cents: my gskill perfect storm ddr3-2000 seem to be influenced by bus clock, the more i overclock the bus the less i can get with ram frequency... i did some experiments, and the maximum clock i can get is about 1920 at 240 mhz bus, then the ram clock that makes me pass the POST has to be lower, arriving at 1667 mhz @311 mhz bus, but at this clock i managed to have a stable system with 6-7-6-24 timings... now i have them RS with 300 mhz bus and 1600 mhz 6-7-6-24 (if you don't count the blue screens due to graphics issues )... and so far that's the biggest limit of a non-unlocked thuban

I have a friend who has had similar problems with his 5770. Looking on the web you will notice several complaints about the 5770 crashing. I believe most people fixed the problem by flashing a new video bios (can't remember whether they flashed it to decrease or increase the speed, techpowerup has several 5770 bios versions available to flash) that adjusted the memory clock . Other options would be to pull the cards out and spend some time testing each card individually to see if its a single card or if its the presence of two cards. Also if it were me i would try a clean install of windows with new driver install on top of that since it seems to be a driver crash.

i'll search for the bios, thanks

i had a clean install planned before jan 1st 'cause i was waiting for the new ssd, but the online shop delayed the shipping until... yesterday ç_ç so i should have it on monday, and that's going to be another "check" on my list... i'll keep you posted as soon as i solve this issue, or as soon as i've done everything, regardless of the result :\\

That is odd, I ran Crossfire, Tri-fire, and Quad-fire 5770's on my board and never had a problem. They were all reference cards though, are the cards you are using reference?
