[Official] MSI 890FX/890GX/890G club - Page 45

Despite all the negativity against 890FX-GD70 and MSI in general, I've just joined the club as well, getting GD70 over Crosshair.

Hope my 965 will reach 300 MHz FSB with 1600 MHz memory speed without getting the mosfets burning ;-)

Don't think I've joined yet, but so far I'm happy with my motherboard Not a high OC by any means, but more than enough for my purposes!
Hi all, new here, but wanted to join in.
Question:
I am running 2 X 6870 in Xfire & want to add a 9800GT for physx.
I am using slot 1 & 5 for 16x 16x. Which slot should I try fit the 9800GT?

Also, the 9800GT is 1.5 slot wide, but my mate will swop his 8800GT single slot with me.

Any suggestions?

Your best bet is to try to get it in the PCI_E4 slot, with your main GPUs in E1 and E5. This will give your CFX x16+x16 and the Phyx x4. Though in reality with a CFX bridge installed, even if one of the CFX GPUs gets x8 it will not effect performance at all.

That's the slot I was going to aim for, seemed the least obtrusive to my 2 x 6870's & card is only going to be doing physx after all.
I will have to swop for the 8800GT though, the 9800 doesn't fit.
I will let you know as soon as I have my cards sorted out. Had to RMA both my 6870's as well, faulty PSU blew them, brand new Aerocool V12XT 1000W.

The overclockers.com interview was with Damon Munzy (thanks hokiealumnus!). It would seem that Josh Walrath was correct about the black socket motherboards still being "AM3" even though the physical socket looks like AM3+. It appears that AMD only considers true AM3+ to be the physical socket combined with a 900-series chipset (this combination is Scorpius), and that platform is likely to be required to "support new power management features as well as “boosting technology†(turbo boost)".
