[Official] MSI 890FX/890GX/890G club - Page 49

So lets start. Following is my Config:

MSI 890GX
AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE
2GB Corsair Dominator DDR3
MSI r5770 HAWK Edition
Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 600w

The problem that I am facing is that my computer boots but the monitor does not pick up any signal. I know it boots because of the windows welcome sound. The card is spinning fine with no added fan speed or does not get heat up. The display works on the integrated graphic card. Now I tried changing the cables, tried cleaning the slot as well as the card but to no avail.

Sometimes it just shows display out of nowhere, I play games without any problems without any heat up issues. But after a couple of restarts or after shutting down, the monitor would not pick up the signal again. Following is what I have tried uptill now:

1. Change the cables, cleaned the slots and card
2. I tried plugging my card into the second PCIE slot, worked on the first attempt but same issues after a shutdown or a restart
3. Tried a different graphic card in my system and it worked without any issues.
4. TRIED MY CARD IN ANOTHER SYSTEM AND IT WORKED THERE FLAWLESSLY EVEN AFTER NUMEROUS RESTARTS AND SHUTDOWNS (weird)

So I really don't know what the problem might be. Can it be because of BIOS? I recently updated my motherboard bios to 1.B and I have a hunch that its related to the bios! Need help guys

Hi guys,

Im running the 890fxa-gd70 with an 1100t. Im wondering whats the highest you guys had the nb-mhz at and the voltage you used to get it there? I want to be extra carefull after smoking two board when prime testing (vrm issue). First rma didnt last 5mins on prime with CONSERVATIVE settings. I have never had the cpu-nb settings above 1.27 and leave the NB voltage on auto, Im wondering if im in the right direction, I want to try to gain stability above 3000mhz

Hey guys, I'm just about to upgrade my gaming rig from this to the folowing changes:

x3 720BE --> x6 1090T (already purchased)

Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H (rev. 1.1) --> MSI 890GXM-G65 (reasons: double PCI-Ex16, 90° degree sata 3.0 ports, effective-looking mosfet coolers, FX (BD) support)

OCZ Reaper 2x2Gb DDR2-1066 --> G.Skill 2x4Gb DDR3-1866-F3-14900CL9D-8GBXL (not 100% sure on this choice, if anyone would have a better idea, I'm all ears)

The main reasons for my upgrade, besides the obvius performance gain, is that I would like to a have system that is FX ready, but most importantly, Piledriver ready without having to change motherboard a third time

A few concerns:

1. Not 100% sure of the Piledriver support thing on this motherboard (as I see it, it's already a miracle that it supports FX without actually having a black AM3+ socket, thanks to MSI's FX support feature)

2. I'm reading a lot of killed/fried 890GXM-G65 on the forums, just because of mild OC of the CPU...is that a real issue or those people were just noobs and did not pay enough attention during their OC stability tests???

3. What bios version you suggest I install at first boot?

thx (and sorry for any gramatical hickups...not a native english speaker)

It is very real some (early ones ) did not need to be overclocked -Just the addition of an X6 1090t but mostly even very slight voltage increases was enough to brick a board .
I RMAd mine and while it was gone got a Gigabyte but I have it back now and it is back together - Stock Clocks and voltages and no problems but It seems they have very poor VRMs for an enthusiast board .
But crossfire micro atx AMD boards are a rarity - so one has to take what they can get .

on a 890GXM-G65 ?
Your sig says you have a MSI 890fx-GD70 which is a very different board .
The 890GXM-G65 is a MicroATX and only has a 3 Phase VRM
