Conroe Extreme Edition to Acquire 1333MHz Bus - Page 3

I have not owned an intel desktop since my PIII 450 katmai I have sitting in my garage(I have a 2.8 prescott at work and a 1.7 dothan in my lap). I miss intel a bit. As soon as they make something decent I will go back.

And so can AMD.. As long as AMD is making a profit does it matter? Besides Intel doesnt sell 90% anymore. AMD is really digging deep into Intel. They have broken into mainstream desktops, laptops, and servers are moving more torwards alot of AMD support as well. And AMD is just having great company growth.

Well, only the high end one will go for that. I think it's great that this brand new chip will be available for less than I just paid for my 9xx series last month. Sure, the clock speed is lower, but if reports are right, it will still be faster....a lot faster.....

And AMD has proven that clock speed is not everything........

Heck, if I didn't need to buy a new board to use one, I'd almost be tempted to get one at launch just to play with.

I think ill be saving maybe for the Extreme Edition, i sure hope they are 12ops per cycle that be nice, competitive to AMD.... but Conroe will be my next chip, and hopefully be around 700 by christmas

Not being a hater to AMD, but they need to bring out 65nm processors which they are doing with AM2 , might just stick with intels new chips, they seem so enticing....even the pentium M chips....i tried searching for their ops/cylce but couldnt find it

The last time I own a intel goes back to the pentium 200mmx ish.... Maybe i'll be reconsiderating intel if it's as good as it seems to be. But it realy seems to be something AMD must react... M2 XTREM ULTRA YEAH !!!!

Either way, who ever is the best today, won't be the best tomorrow. It really good that way... Why do you think M$ sucks... they have no competition.

^ This is true but back to processors, I have never put an AMD in any of my computers (though every single computer i have built for someone else has been AMD powered and my brother also has an AMD in his rig, I have been an Intel man all the way and as such I HOPE that Intel is ahead in this next round but it doesnt really matter to me, I think they will both be pretty close together, and to set the record straight, as of right now, AMDs socket AM2 CPUs are 65nm as are Intels current/next gen CPUs so this is NOT a valid point of Intel superiority unless you are talking about Presler vs. Athlon X2 and even then, I admit the X2s have us Intel guys beaten several times over my bro's rig has an Athlon 4400+ X2 and with my CPU at 3.825 I still couldnt even compete.
