my cpu is a phenom II x4 965 3.4Ghz 140W
memory 2 sticks of OCZ 4GB DDR2-SDRAM PC2-6400 (399 MHz)
motherboard Gigabyte M61PME-S2P
i wanted to get a good card for my current motherboard but after thinking about it a long time i decided that buying an expensive card will not do anything for me.. im not a gamer... im a music person and even tho i started playing this one game i decided to call it quits because that would take away time from doing music...
now in the last 3-4 months played a good game using the onboard video NVIDIA GeForce 6100 and it was a little.. just a little slow.. in the fps game that i played i became a very good player in the game and came to the conclusion that buying an expensive card was unnecessary and wouldn't add much to my skill.
on the music end i'm experiencing rare issues with usb drop outs using my high end sound card and webcam and all devices plugged in my computer. i have 2 keyboards, 2 mice, webcam, flash disk, exxternal dvd drive, sound card all hooked up usb. motherboard is USB 2.0...
i had a geforce 6200 pci card which recently died. i miss that card because it allowed me to dual monitor and have my music stuff on one monitor.. since the card died i had even more reason to get a high end video card and was really eyeing the 5770..
after a long thought and seeing that motherboards come with both vga and dvi connectors i've come to the conclusion that i want another motherboard instead of a video card..
i see onboard geforce video cards come in numbers in the 7000's or even 8000's with both vga and dvi connectors.. which is even more reason for me not to get a high end card.
Q: will my ddr2 memory be taken on a new usb 3.0 motherboard?
i have no major issues with my current motherboard even tho it only has 2 memory slots (with 4GB memory). i run windows 7 64-bit... it also has a weak onboard card 6100 which i've had to turn off the eye candy on the OS.
i wanna get ready for the hd webcams..
im looking for a motherboard with
1. onboard dual monitor set up
2. usb 3.0
(3. can take my processor and memory .... )
(my next purchase will probably be a solid state hard drive of about 40GB)
thread would like to hear from you.
