System board in XP

Thread Starter
In the device manager under system board shouldn't it say asus a8v or somthing to that effect. It says that no drivers are installed or may not be needed. There are also a few other system devices that try to install but it doesn't find drivers for them and i don't even know what device it is because it is just called "system device".

I don't think I am having any problems but I just want to make sure everything is the way it needs to be for opt performance.

You want a short and sweet answer or a long and nerdy one?

I think you want short: if its working, DONT TRY TO FIX IT .

Well the thing is....Is having a "driver" for the mother board more helpful in making sure that all is good or just wait till I have a problem and look for the long nerdy answer.
This all stems from ASUS update telling me no asus mobo found

Well, I think its good that its working, but just incase having the driver is good, go to the asus site and download the most recent motherboard driver to be safe .

Ahhhh thats the fun part.
The Asus drivers under the driver section for my board are only for the Reltek audio drivers. But none for the board itself.
Even on the cd that came with it there is nothing go figure.
So I suppose I am to guess that just the Asus update program is faulty.

Just in asking does your board show up in the device manager under system board?

Hello Bluemonster71,

I disagree with leaving it alone. Your system performance might not be noticeable but you haven't compared it with the correct drivers yet. Did your system come with a system disk?

If not, go to this ASUS site for your A8V driver downloads:

http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us

Insert "A8V" (without the quotation marks) in the "Download" field. Choose "A8V" for mainboard. Choose the "Drivers" tab.

Download the Ethernet (Marvel) Drivers = Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet Driver V7.14.1.3. for 32Bit Windows.

or

Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet Driver V7.31.1.3 for Windows 64bit XP/2003 for 64Bit Windows.

Download the USB 2.0 Drivers = VIA USB 2.0 Host Controller Drivers V2.57 for Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP

Download the Via 4 in 1 Driver set = VIA 4 in 1 driver Package Service v4.51

Download the "Cool n Quiet" Driver (if you have an Athlon64, not if you have a Sempron) = AMD Cool''''''''n''''''''Quiet Driver package revision 1.1.0.0 for Windows XP.

Expand each program as they are "zipped or archived" into a folder and run the setup utilty.

hth,

R

If you don't know how to download or install the drivers you can contact me:

ropey123@aol.com = aol
82202625 = icq

and I will talk you through it.

Gotta love trillian. Let's me have all messengers built into one platform.

hth,

R
The only driver I am not using is the cool and quiet driver because everything I have read about OCing was to have it disabled so why install it.
The cd that came with my mobo has only the 4 in one drivers and a raid driver because I switched to xp 64 so the 32 stuff doesn't show.
I just find it weird that my old A7n8xe deluxe had a main board driver and showed up in windows.

That is the 4 in 1 drivers Bluemonster. They will install the system board drivers for you.
