Thread Starter
This is my first post I have a toshiba satellite P30 with a Pentium 4 3.06 Ghz. I dont want to overclock the CPU but i would like to overclock the graphics card a bit. Ihave A ATI Mobility Radeon 9700.

Will it be safe to overclock the graphics card in my laptop and if so i saw some of the programs to use but i am unsure which one to use for the 9700??

Hi, Welcome aboard!

As long as the graphics card is kept adaquetly cool you will be ok, but due to the poor air flow inside a laptop, the card will get hot pretty quick.

Use ATI-Tool and the program will find your max stable core and memory, run both options until you come to a settling point, then run the artifact scanner. When the card starts to artifact it means the card is not stable. Meaning the card is to hot or come to a maximum overclock.

Artifact's= Weird glitches and lines on the screen.

That will deffenitly cause some heat issues and a lot more power consumption on battery.

The laptop stays plugged in most of the time. as for heat issure running a game the fan stays on but about half speed once game is stabilised and running. I also dont do high demand games only starcraft and warcraft.

Do they games slow down on you at all or you just want to overclock for the fun of it. If thats the case, just download ATI tray tool and youll be fine. Easy to use.

So once i fand max core and memory then i run artifact test for 30 m and adjust values upward till it will run for 30 min then run for 1 hour and adjust values till it runs for an hour artifact free. does this sound right??
i had a P25 w/ the go5200 that i overclocked. i was able to do ~10% over before artifacts.

the laptop however, did not run hotter than normal. but heat is the biggest concern with a laptop.
