New Abit Ni8 Sli BIOS update resulted in idling 10c lower?

Thread Starter
So I downloaded the new BIOS for the Ni8 Sli today. This motherboard is the most unstable bastard when it comes to overclocking past the low 230's so I'm always looking for possible solutions. Well so far I've noticed one big difference. My temperatures at idle are reading 8-10C below what they were before I flashed the BIOS.

Should I assume they broke the uguru temp monitor?... because that's crazy.

Well, when I 1st had my pc, and updated the bios, my CPU temps dropped about 9C, and it was just a thing of sensor corrections. So maybe its reading correctly now, or maybe its out of whack. But you never know until the board's bugs are worked out.

Thats what I was going to say. I think they were probably some sensor corrections as well

Please don't blame ABIT. Blame the P.O.S. chipset that most people would like to think it's a good one, just becaus of SLI? I don't think so.

nForce 4 SLI-IE chipsets have a huge fsb limitation, some OC slightly good and most hit the wall at 230fsb-250fsb but rarely 260.

Your only possible solution would be a P5WD2-Premium, because I think ABIT is about to bite the bullet........I had a feeling they would sooner than later, that's why I didn't get an AW8-MAX.

My 650 runs @ 4.16ghz........suice shot: 4.42ghz, all on air with a Zalman CNPS 7700-cu and of course, a P5WD2-Premium.
I ordered a 660......so I'll join the 300x14 club.

Yeah, I know it's the Nforce 4 Sli that's screwing me over, sorry wasn't specific on that part. Unfortunately I was undereducated when I purchased the board so I'll have to make due til I can afford to start buying computer parts again. They did add Presler support in this latest BIOS though which is atleast a step in the right direction. Guess I'll stress test while I sleep tonight and see if by some miracle I wake up with a non locked up 4 ghz machine, heh.
