My first build from start to finish... I've changed hardware before, but this is the first time I've done it from scratch.

-antec three hundred case
-GIGABYTE MA770T-UD3P
-AMD Phenom II x 4 965 Black Edition
-4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 Patriot PC3-10666 1333 RAM
-PNY Nvidia GeForce GT240 GPU
-LG x24 DVD multi-drive w/ lightscribe
-500 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM HDD
-600W Psu (Rocketfish Gaming)
-LG Flatron W2040T Monitor (20", 70,000:1)
-Wireless Keyboard and Mouse

All for less than 920$ USD (including tax).

I'd switch that HDD out for this Samsung F3 500GB

Other then that, it's pretty solid if you're not going to be playing too much games.

Have you thought about going x6 or i5/i7? It might perform better for a slightly higher price. But I am not up to date with latest prices, so someone else might chime in.

HD Pron No, I'm a CIS major w/ an emphasis on programming, so I'm always debugging and running all kinds of stuff that took a toll on my last computer.

Yeah. The HDD is the only thing I'm not too happy with right now. That and my cooling system.

Yeah, I had an i7 build in my mind for awhile, but for me, it didn't make any sense to spend the extra money. I'm a college student, so it took a lot to buy this stuff
