I'm thinking about going with the Corsair H50. I know... so soon after I purchased the CM 212+. I'll see how well I can overclock my CPU before making a final decision on the H50.

The difference between these 2 coolers would probably be only a few degrees. Should provide little extra headroom for overclocking if you jump to the H50.

The main selling point of the H50 is that it is less bulkier than normal air coolers, which gives your rig a lot cleaner look.

I'd work on the cable management first. That itself would already bring about a good decrease in temps. It's a pain to do, I know, but once you manage to hide all those pesky cables behind, the sense of accomplishment is awesome.

Show your friend this article. The only i7 that can hang with an overclocked $289 1090T is a $1000 980X.

I'm curious just how true this is. Having owned more than a few air coolers before my H50, I have a feeling the difference is more than a few degrees. I notice you have a 212 and a 720BE, so I suppose we could compare.

On four cores/1.42v/3.5GHz/23°C ambient I hit low 40s at full load (LinX). At 1.55v/3.7GHz my max load temp is 53°C. Idle temps are in the high 20s/low 30s. You?

H50 will barely be better, so if you want it, get it before the Hyper 212, they're both pretty cool. I wouldn't say it's really an upgrade.
Next upgrade is custom water loop

Wow. Getting some mixed opinions about the H50 in here. Some say it helps a lil', others say it helps a lot. I'll have to do more research that I thought on this cooler.

On a separate note...

Just picked this up to go with my build. I HAD to pick up an IPS monitor to go with my new baby.

No, I didn't pay full price. I got it for a "slick" deal.

I finally have my new Dell U2410 monitor, but I'm having trouble finding calibration settings to use on it. The color is pretty good coming straight from DELL, but there's a lot of room for improvement.

Any help would be really great!
