THANK GOD i had folder duplication on in my WHS. My hard drive was the last thing i pictured catching on fire. I had the hard drive cage on my desk out side of the case when it happened. I saw some smoke rising then some sparks followed by some flames. Put some burn marks on the top of the samsung. RMA time.

No kidding, I've always heard stories of peoples PSU's catching on fire. I froze for a few second i couldn't believe what was happening. I'm just thankful i was present when it happened.

UPDATE: I hooked up the samsung to check the data. Now i'm F***ed. I can't get any of my computers to recognize the drive at all in bios or windows. I thought the external burn marks would have done nothing, guess i was wrong. I might have to look into some data recovery services.

Tell Western Digital, I am sure you can coerce them to pay for the data recovery and if not legal action may be appropriate.

This might be a dumb question, but assuming the disk and mechanical parts are ok, is it possible to switch the pcb boards from an identical drive ? I have another samsung f2 1tb that was not hooked up or near the culprit drive. It's the last one on the bottom in the picture.
