If you don't already, download ATITool. It's made for ATI cards, but it'll help simulate a "load" on your video card. When the "3d" cube comes up, watch all of your speedfan values. If one of them jumps up (like mine did) that's the core temps of your GPU.

On my card, watching the nVidia Control Panel only showed 52C load. When watching speedfan, it jumped up to above 85C and sometimes 90C and then the nVidia Sentinel popped up saying that my card wasn't receiving enough power. I installed my waterblock and my core temp (showed by speedfan) never went above 40C. The power problem went away, also.

Ok, now look for a number. it should be consistent of 4 numbers.

xx.xx, so look for somthing like... 12.xx or 11.xx or 13.xx

If it is in 12.00 but is higher than 12.30 you have a problem. If it is in 13. you should get a new PSU immediatley. if it is in 11.xx tell me what the other xx are so i know its not too undervolted.

Those are perfectly fine, it's not the PSU.

whats the chance that its the connection to the psu? this psu has so many extra connections that when i hooked the new vid card up, i had no clue which one I used before.

Edit: Oh and the ati/speed fan thing didnt show me any different readings than the nvidia temp told me.

was I supposed to run the tests with ATItool or just open it up so the cube was spinning?

try a different connector, and if thats not working, then i geuss your PSU could not be supplying enough current to the card, but i would think if the PSU was too weak you would see other symptoms throughout the system:\\
