What is BOOTMGR

Thread Starter
I am running windows 7 and earlier today I decided to shut my tower down and unhook it while i worked on another computer. Well while it was down my room mate switched out the graphic card and a one stick of ram with me. Going from a XFX 260GTX to a EVGA 8800GTS and now the system tells me this No BOOTMGR press CRTL + ALT+ DELETE to restart. I was wondering if anyone had any idea that could keep me from reinstalling windows, which is something I really don't want to do.

Bad RAM, put the old ram back in, put all your hardware back in.
have you tried switching the hardware back to what it was? windows 7 doesnt like you switching hardware without uninstalling drivers.

hell, it asks to restart when you plug in different harddrives!

set it to boot from the right hdd / ssd.

if that is not working for you, make sure to throw in the win7 disk, and perform a startup repair it ll have to replace some bootmgr files most likely, sometimes even roll back to a earlier state.

all it is

Ok I'll try putting the previous hardware back in first thing tomorrow morning. Though I did take into consideration it might be the hdd's so I hooked up the OS drive and left the other two unhooked and still got the same message. Then I tried unhooking one of the sticks of RAM (the one which was replace) and still nothing so tomorrow I just put everything back the way it was to see the outcome. Thanks and I'll keep you posted

yeah sometimes the best troubleshooter is going back to how it was. makes sense lol

if it still does it, might as well repair the startup, uninstall drivers and such, switch hardware, deal with it if it pops again, and continue on your merry way!

Boot with the W7 disk in and repair your Windows. I've had the same thing happen to me after a CPU swap.
