Fish ~ Nice job on the rendering of the feet. If you like the silhouette then I can do that, but would you like them round or square:

**yours would be made from all-black acrylic per your request**

Heh... still chuckling at CR's attempt at getting goosed by luring unsuspecting folk with popcorn... in his lap.

Hmm, I do like the square feet. I'll have to draft them up and see how they look on the tech station. I think they might win.

Yeah, I originally wanted the torture rack but there were some things I didn't like about it. I actually started from scratch in my design but apparently the DD TR is very well designed if my perfect design resembled it in any way.

Well, I decided I like the square feet better. I'm not sure exactly how I'd like them done, but we can figure that out later:

I drafted them up at about 3 inches square and 3/4" thick. I'm messing with a different renderer so I may throw up some more if they turn out nice.

Fish ~ I picked up the panels today and all seems to be in order. The panels are Black acrylic.... my favorite when combined with Bronze.

The 1/8" thick piece of Blue acrylic is gonna be pretty floppy once I cut it up, but once the motherboard is attached to it the rigidity should be fine.
I could also make some supplementary spars to add rigidity... lemme know what you think, and we can cross that bridge when we come to it.

Here are some things that I will need:
  • The bezel plate for the PSU
  • Side-fan frame
  • Sliders for the HDD's and the optical drives (or I can make you custom sliders with some type of handle or pull on them [similar to Scarab HDD rails: See image below]... again, just lemme know)
  • Rear PCI-slot/IO bracket

I was going to go on a wild ride on the Ducati tomorrow, but it seems that it will be raining so I can spend some time on drawing the cutouts onto the panels.

So... If you have the plans for the rear panel and the interior panels then I can get that done tomorrow.

Also, how do you want the PSU to mount? On a slide-out tray?
(similar to the HDD rack below)

And lastly, will you also please post a link for the hinges here in this thread? I realise that you sent me a link already... but for the life of me I can not find it.

If you could remind me, is it the transparent grey or the flat black? I forgot.

I think that it will be fine. A little floppy is okay since it will be supported by the interior panels as well. Like you said, if it is an issue, we can figure something out later.

The bezel plate doesn't really matter too much to me, but I was just thinking, could you fabricate one out of 1/8" acrylic or such? Just something so the PSU can slide in and out. I really like that feature on my Lian Li. As for the method of securing the PSU, a sliding mechanism would be nifty but I'm not sure it is necessary. If you could enlighten me with more details, it does sound intriguing. I was just thinking of a tray or some sort so that the PSU could just rest on it.

For the fan grill on the bottom, I was wanting the black anodized of this version from mnpctech: http://www.mnpctech.com/Computer_Billet_Fan_Grills.html They don't seem to have the black anodized anymore but perhaps they have one just ... laying around. If not, the other style is also very stylish: http://www.mnpctech.com/120mm_Alumin...an_Grills.html

I was not planning on using sliders for the hard drives but the ones you have shown in the image are very nice looking. Perhaps we do those in lieu of the thumb screws. This would push the far right interior panel more right (only slightly) which would also make the rear door wider. If we did use those, I'd want to cut a small part out of the panel where the slider tabs are so they do not protrude out of the face of the case but still be easy to grab.

I sent you an email with all the dimensions and how they relate. For the exact dimensions of the interior panels, it will depend on the MB tray so the supports line up with actual locations.

To all:

Here is the link to the hinges: http://www.sugatsune.com/products/Pr...PRODUCTID=4042 4042MS5 - the nickel plated one. You'll also need the wrench they mention.

I think I covered everything. Let me know if I forgot anything.

Fish ~ The Black is the shiny black identical to the panels in the HDD cage image posted above.

I opted (and kinda bullied you ) into this as the Bronze or Smoked acrylic will show the bonds. In a perfect world and with a perfect craftsman there would be no flaws in the form of voids...regrettably and sadly I am far from perfect...

The flaws are not noticed upon casual observation nor at a cursory glance... but when one starts to look closely the small voids become quite apparent and then stand out like a super nova in deep-space.

As for the PSU tray... lemme sleep on it... no.. seriously... I dream about this stuff and sometimes the answer or solution comes to me while I slumber.

As for parts: Do you want me to order them myself, or would you like to order them, inspect and approve them, and then forward them to me?

Forgive me for asking a quasi-loaded question, but imho it might be better for you to see them first to ensure that the components are indeed what you desire.

Well, if this bullying is going to continue, maybe we better just cut our losses and call it quits. No way! I actually think the solid black will be better to hide cables and such. I had just forgotten which we had decided on. XD

Parts: I think I'm okay with trusting you to order them. I'm going to assume you are more meticulous than I am and if something won't work, better have it go straight to you then change hands. So as long as you check with me to be sure we are getting the right thing, I think it is fine for you to order them. But things that we haven't talked about, like thumb screws, etc. we can figure out as they come up.

P.S. pssst, did you guys know Syrillian is building me a tech station? He is. Just thought you should know.

Nooooooooooooo, don't leave! Imma sowry.. I no mean to be bully.

I appreciate your confidence in my decision-making process' when it comes to case components.

I will of course confer and get your final approval when it comes time to purchase these items (2~3 weeks time).

Thumbscrews: I have a variety of these things from small and delicate to large, heavy and potentially dangerous.

When the time comes I will post pics of what I have here, or if you find something that tickles your fancy feel free to link me to them.
