What's more important memory bandwith or timings?

Hi all.

I want to know whats more important for my cpu

Amd athlon xp 2200+ @ 240mhz bus speed

The memory bandwith or memory timings

I have pc3200 ram so i could get loads of memory performance :S /w timings of

3-3-3-6

Whats the best tihng to do with my memory?
Should i buy something like dual channel or memory with heatspreaders for better overclocking?

Back in the day when I had my XP-M I always got better performance with increased memory bandwidth. Running 1:1 always produced the best results.

Agreed, bandwith will almost always yeild better results then running a divider and tight timings.

Running a divider doesn't matter anymore with AMD HTT systems but for his running 1:1 might make a difference.

There's no one answer to that, it depends on the application that you're running. For new games, very little difference, 3DMark05/06 probably 250 2-2-2-5, SuperPi probably 3-4-4-8

This has to be the most hotly debated aspect of OCing in general.

Everything RAM is going to be improved by increasing the frequency.

3-4-4-8 at 300Mhz is vastly superior as far as mem bandwidth is concerned and even more importantly for CPU overclocking.

Because timings are based on this frequency, 3 ticks at 300Mhz is better than 2 ticks at 200 Mhz
