I really appreciate all the discussion here (and in the other threads) about the TECs.
If there are any specific tests I can do just let me know. I got my thermal tape in the mail.. I am going to try and setup a temperature reader so I can have more information about what is going on.
Cold plate and hot side are are two important temps I really need to measure. I can see how well the water is cooling the block etc.
Here is just the setup of my new i7 in the old case:
I decided to not use that hard as nails crap that I used on my other board. I used my can of conformal coating (it was 5 years old so I was hesistant to use it before... but I made sure it was still ok).
I coated almost the enire backside in conformal coating. I sealed all the holes in the mobo first, and used tape over the memory pins etc where I do not expect condensation or water to hit. You should be able to see the line on where I coated just to the right of the memory pins.
Can of conformal coating. Not good to use on the top side of the motherboard since it is a spray can and could get into connectors etc. (They have paint on stuff that would work better I think).
CPU In the socket. I decided against vasoline on this one because it could melt at high temps. I used dielectric greast around the socket, and in the center of the socket. I also painted the cpu (exposed components in center) and center socket with nail polish stuff to waterproof it.
Front of my case. Notice that POS zalman fan controller? It can't even run 1 ultra kaze fan at max rpm... I only use it for the thermistors, pump RPM display, and computer power consumption.
My PC assembled. I have a lot of tubing going places. I am not the best at making things aesthetically pleasing...
PC All back together for day-day use. Meanwell is still outside.. not sure I will ever cram it in the case yet..
Also I ran out of fan grills.. so I decided to put my finger in one to see what would happen (it was an accident actually). It cut open my finger, and broke the blade off the fan.. then the fan started spinning up again and my whole pc started shaking/vibrating lol. Anywas watch your fingers!Edited by cmolson - 5/21/10 at 7:16am
