Gskill f2-8500cl5-2gbpk

Thread Starter
I was wondering what was the highest overclock people were able to reach with this ram, the max i got was 1082mhz with 5-5-5-15 timmings. If i try going any higher my computer will crash

should i try releasing the timmings more and if so by how much? would if be recommended?

There isn't really any point in doing so with modern DDR2/3 RAM. Cutting the timings on this RAM will have negligible performance increase but a measurable decrease in system stability.

This is more the case with timings than with frequency, but to be perfectly honest even overclocking the frequency gives very, very little performance gains.

i tried benchmarking with 203 freq with ram at 1082mhz @ 2.1v while i tried 220 freq with timmings 4-4-4-12 and benchmarked and gave less mb/s than the first one.

I was wondering if i loosen the timmings even more if i could get more mbs/sec or it is not worth it

Nah not worth it with the timings in my opinion. I also don't see the point in running DDR2/3 RAM at a higher frequency for the sake of it. If the rest of your setup is such that the best way to overclock your CPU and GFX is by running the board at 220MHz, and the RAM is stable at that FSB then great. But it's not worth working things around the RAM.

Yea, it may just be the CPU, so you'll need to further tweak it, but to be honest the extra couple MHz you get probably won't do much.

This kit has no problem with DDR2-1100 with 2.10V.

Sorry for digging this thread up...

I'm testing the max i can get out of this mems at DDR1128 Mhz (DDR2-564Mhz) with 5-5-5-15 and 50 at REF Cycle Time and 2.04v.

I'm using memtest86+ v4.20...
