Big Problem Mic Acting Weird!

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I hope I am posting this in the right section.
I have a really annoying problem that has started a couple days ago.
I am on Ventrillo talking to my clan members and the mic will work fine.
I leave my desk come back and no one can hear me.
Like sometimes they will hear A LOT of static and not my voice
and then sometimes nothing at all.
No my mic works 10% of the time.
But the weird thing about this is that when I play music and activate
my mic in ventrillo everyone can hear the music just perfect but
when I try talking over the music, no one can hear my voice...
it is really weird and I don't know how to fix it...
anyone know what could be the problem?

Have you touched the 1/8th in jacks or changed your sound drivers recently?

you might wanna mess with the line controls and use the test feature to see what sounds best.

thanks for the 2 serious replies and the not so helpful advise.... well I kno notthing about soundcards /onboard so I don't know what a 1/8th is and... I installed microsoft speech w/e but I don't think it would affect my mic... I didn't change my sound drivers. and how do I mess with line controls? btw as of right now I have it in the pink plug?

Vent seems fussy with voice activation... I prefer the key or mouse option.
