Video card speed question

Thread Starter
I am new to the forums and come to you guys with my first question. I am getting 2 6800 gs's but i can either get them in store with a 470MHz core, or for the same price or online and wait a few days for 2 with a 490MHz core. i have been without a game comp for 2 weeks and I dont want to wait. Should i just deal with the wait and get the 490MHz ones, or rush and get the ones with the 470MHz core?

obvious answer :
WAIT

it'll be worth it.
then you can OC it to over 500MHZ, where with the 470 you may only get to 490
nothing like passing 500mhz

What? That was an incorrect answer there..

With a 450 Core, You can overclock it to the same speeds as the 490Core, because They are both the same Vid Cards, but the 490Core is just an overclocked version of the 6800Gs. So They are technically the same. Besides, the 6800GS PCI-E is a CRAZY overclocker. but IMO, you can get a better card for what your spending SLI on. Get a 7800GTX and dont look back. This card will rape 2x 6800GS AND youll have the option of getting another one in future. =)

yeah, just get the cheapest cards you can find (from a good manufacture of corse) evga, xfx and bfg are probably the best... then w/ the money that you saved get better coolers like the zalman one... then just OC them yourself and you'll probably get better performance w/ the aftermarket coolers. just a note... evga is the only company that will still warranty your cards if you change the cooler (not that any company would ever know if you put the cards back on... but yeah)

You should go with a single 7800GT or GTX with that money 2 6800GS's are waste of money IMHO
