Unlocking the eVGA GeForce 6800 GS CO 256MB DDR3/AGP-8X??

Hello all, I have just recently bought a "eVGA GeForce 6800 GS CO 256MB DDR3/AGP-8X" for my GF's computer, I read somewhere online that you are able to unlock stuff in the card, such as pipelines and such, just wanted to know if there is a program out there I should be using to do this or if this is more of a BIOS flashing deal, I remember something about riva tuner or I dunno, anything ring any bells? Let me know asap.

Thanks in advance,
b3ck

Yes, you can unlock it with RivaTuner, download it from guru3d.com. Google "unlock 6800" and there'll be tons of FAQs on how to do so. Good luck! Note: Not all cards unlock properly due to some pipes being damaged and the quality of the core. Overclock it too!

Now as far as overclocking it, she doesn't have any type of cooling system besides a 120mm fan shooting air out the back, a 80mm fan shooting in air from the front/bottom of the case and a 80mm fan in this side door tunnel type deal shooting air into the case. Should I still overclock it?

Yes, just monitor your temps, just use the "detect optimal settings" and that will suffice for her unless sheis an avid gamer playin f.e.a.r all the time.... there is a temp monitor in the nvidia utilities that will let u see card temps, try to stay under 75c thats high but video cards can handle more, but why push it? Just as long as you see no artifacts youll be fine
