Q:What is the difference between v2.0 and v2.1
A:Physical Boards: The Core Boost chip seems to have disappeared on the 2.1 revision.
- The Core Boost chip seems to have disappeared on the 2.1 revision.
2.0:http://roguelemming.biz/ud5/UD52.jpg
2.1:http://roguelemming.biz/ud5/UD521.jpg
- DIMM sockets are remapped.
DIMM 1 (ddr3_1 / slot 1) = Unchanged
DIMM 2 (ddr3_2 / slot 2) becomes ddr3_3 (slot 3)
DIMM 3 (ddr3_3 / slot 3) becomes ddr3_2 (slot 2)
DIMM 3 (ddr3_4 / slot 4) = Unchanged
so
DIMM 1 & DIMM 2 = Dual channel in rev 2.0
DIMM 1 & DIMM 3 = Dual channel in rev 2.1
- 2.0 rates memory speed at 1866+
2.1 rates memory speed at 2000+
(This is speculated to be related to the F3 BIOS that comes on the 2.1)
- 2.0 required that you use DIMM 3 & DIMM 4 to reach clock speeds of 1866+.
2.1 does not list such a requirement.
- Solid state capacitors are also changed on 2.1.
