Finally Hit 900 Core on GTX470

Thread Starter
Well after modding bios and still hitting walls @ 875 core i decided to shut down my folding rigs as they keep it 74+ degrees even on the coldest nights After that. It cooled off to lower 60's after a couple hours which then allowed me to hit 900 core bench's with a core temp of 36c or below i could bench without issue's above 38c crash every time.
Now as for voltage i have thrown as much as 1.17 at the card but i has not made any difference from 1.10 once i go above 1,09 core volt temp's don't seem to respond with increased voltage so i am at a point where i think a OCP mod is needed but now that the card is on water not so easy to remove so i might not bother as i can do 865 core all day long but we will see.

Any way here are the bench's
903/1805/2210 @ 1.15v Max temp was mid 30C

Nice! I can't get past the 835MHz wall. I can set the voltage at 1.17v and it still crashes. No artifacts - just crashes out of the new calico scene at the same place every time

I guess these things really do like the water. How are you keeping that card that cold? Block/Rad?

mckbtr kindly modded my BIOS from 1.087v to 1.21v maximum(using the new nibitor) and I used Galaxy XtremeTuner HD to flash from Windows.

I posted the BIOS in the bios/overclocking thread but here's the link: http://www.tunerspotter.com/bios/currentgf100.rom

It'll identify as EVGA and has 608MHz/837MHz stock clocks

EDIT: whoa I guess godaddy doesn't want me hosting ".rom" files... http://www.tunerspotter.com/bios/currentgf100.rar - that should work

Let ME guess @ about 1.19.29 that is the exact place mine locks up if it fails
to finish

While 81C is good for air these cards like lower temps i would like to find one that does 900 on air and put it under water with low 30C core temps might just get 1 gig out of it

So, in order to get higher than 1.087v in afterburner, we have to use a modded bios. Is that correct?

Yes But you will have use nvidia inspector to adjust the voltage
as AB set a limit to 1.087

I got 2 cards right now that will do 890/core on air with 1.250v but the longer it runs the hotter it gets and it will fail in Kombustor. But the crazy thing is if I set it to 900/core it will fail right off. like its not a heat issue. It will lock windows up as soon as I hit apply. Oh and these are GTX 480s so good job on a 470 @ 900 core.

EDIT: does the Afterburner 1.6.0 beta 6 not up the max volts for you? It did for me I can now go all the way up to 1.500
