AMD 4400+ - I would like your guidance please!

Guys,

My spec is below and i would like your comments as to what you think. As it stands i get 71,000 score in Aquamark3 and i would obviously like to improve on that!

My system is stable currently and i dont plan to push it any further until i get better memory which will occomodate the increase speed better with tighter timings. However, is there anything obvious that i could do to "tweak things" as they are now? Also, what would be your recommendations on where to go next. My plans are: -
  1. Faster, better quality memory x 4 1 gb sticks
  2. SATA Disk drives

Whats next?

I would welcome your comments on what you think of wht i have now and where you think i can take this system i have just built.

Jeantec 450 watt power supply in a X-Fire Case
AMD 4400+ (Toledo Core) Socket 939 2 x 1 mb L2 cash OC @ 2.7 GHz*
Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro processor cooler (29 deg idle & 38 deg load)
Abit AN8 SLI Socket 939 nForce 4 SLI PCI-E ATX motherboard with Real-tec 7.1 sound
2 x 1 GHz DDR 400 Memory (running 3,3,5,8)**
40 gb IDE IMB Deskstar & 80 gb IDE IBM Deskstar slave.
2 x DVD/CD writers
10cm rear exhaust fan, 10 cm front intake fan, 6cm side intake fan.
ATI Radeon X1800 XT - 512 memory, 1500 MHz Memory & 625 MHz Core
Twinhan DTV Digital + Analogue Free view TV Tuner PCI card
All running on Windows XP Professional with Windows Media Centre

* 11 x 246 multiplier, v-core 1.55, v-dimm 1.7, HHT x 4, memory running on 333MHz divider at 392 MHz as
** It is cheap memory and is unable to go over 400 MHZ without making the system unstable – hence the very loose memory timings! - I know they suck but they are next on the list to be upgraded!

Before you do anything i would suggest a better PSU, because the one your currently using is going to give you trouble in the future.

Get one from a name brand such as OCZ Enermax or Seasonic.

For your system i reccommend: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817151025

I just bought this and was expecting to replace it when i run 2 cards in SLI mode. All the voltages are very stable currently and it is not even running on 70% load so it will do for now i feel.

As with everything, stability is crucial and this is offering it to me currently.

What do you think of the system i have built in general though?

hi!

I'll go with the memory first. then the sata drive. But I also agree with X3Nh4nC3D you will have to change your PSU eventualy. My old one was a enremax 480W and it was barely enought for my single 7800gt...

Nice system though....
Are you satisfied with the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro?

I think so! I dont know what the stock tempratures would have been and you have to consider the huricane i have blowing through my case aswell.

However, i thing the tempratures are pritty cold considering my overclocking.

However, if the stats are correct then its awsome!

Have a read about it but yes i am i suppose - with my overclock it leave me plenty of room to go more if i want. the max temprature is around 65 with recommended max at 60 so i'm well within tollerences.

Clean up your desktop / empty the recycling bin / dont use pictures that take up alot of memory

And check out the guides and faq section for more info.

Guys,

I have overclocked my 4400+ to 2.7 ghz and ith boots fine, plays games fine, runs cool but wont pass any tests clean....

11 x 246 = 2706
HTT x4
CPU Voltage 1.575
Memory voltage 2.6 (standard as the memory is DDR400 running at 333 mhz; with the overclock making it run at 391 mhz so i see no reason to up the voltage here)

Tempratures are 29 deg idle & 44 deg load

Also it takes around 2 - 3 minutes to close down

My questions are:-

1) How can i stabalise my system (i have tried lower voltages and the system become very ustable but i am worried to push them higher - should i up the voltages on the HTT aswell?)
2) When stable - what would happen if i increased the PCI Express bus from 100 mhz to say 120 mhz? Would i get better graphics performance?
3) It failed yesterday on the memory which confused me. It isn't running overclocked so why should this fail - is this why i should up the voltage here?
4) Today the processor failed on its second pass so obviously i need to do somthing but i have reduiced the voltage on the core since yesterday as i was worried i was putting too much into the chip.

Your comments please?
