Att. ATI 9800 pro/xt users - Page 2

I have a 9800PRO 128MB. Ive had for a while now. Maybe a year and a half. Well, it runs pretty damn good for an old card. In games like f.e.a.r. , if i turn my graphics almost all the way high. My pc restarts. So other than that. It seems to play so far most of the newest games. However, that's if you play at mid or low settings. It's a good card but if you're looking to play on full settings then it might be worth your while to save up a few more bucks and get a newer/better card.

9800 XT will give you a few more fps, not much difference than the pro. I had a 128 mb 9800 pro as my last card and I found I needed to upgrade the cooling to get a better overclock. I got the arctic VGA Silencer, this is way cheaper than the Zalman VF-700 and it exhausts to the back out of the case instead of recycling case air like the zalman fan. My oc with 9800 pro with stock cooling was 412/360 but with the aftermarket cooling and a volt mod on the mem it got to 425/410. Great card but i needed to upgrade to play cs:s in 1600x1200 which is the native of my LCD. I say get the 9800 pro off ebay for 90 US and oc it, or try to find a 6800 LE and unlock/overclock (dont get the 6800 LE off ebay unless its sealed new, they will prob be selling one that wont unlock!, happened to me )

P.S. getting the 9800 pro 256 mb version will cost more and will only deliver a few more fps in most games, just get 128mb
