Magnetic Processors may be in your PC soon.

Within a decade, the processors you drop into your system may use magnets instead of transistors. Sounds promising!

Quick Snippet

For the first time, researchers have created a working prototype of a radical new chip design based on magnetism instead of electrical transistors.

As transistor-based microchips hit the limits of Moore's Law, a group of electrical engineers at the University of Notre Dame has fabricated a chip that uses nanoscale magnetic "islands" to juggle the ones and zeroes of binary code.
I do wonder though...how sensitive will these chips be to magnetic interference? Will having a speaker near your PC have drastic effects? What about a water pump that uses magnets to move water!? I hope not, but only time will tell.

magnetic rings where used in a mesh in old computer memory, gigantic meshes of wires and magnets so called magnetic core, ferritte core memory , i dunno if new chips use the same princable, looks like magnets are making a comeback

Im sure the chips will be magnetically shielded, these guys invent CPU technology, I think they have SOME kind of computer knowledge

True...but don't forget: CRT Monitors, Floppy Disks, Magnetic Tapes, etc. Those were all susceptible to magnets in general and/or electromagnetic interference. Heh, maybe the BIOS will come with a CPU Degauss option. I can see it now, "...and all of a sudden, my computer keeps restarting for no reason!" "Did you remember to use the CPU Degauss option in your BIOS? That might solve your problem." "Ok, thanks! That worked great. Rep for you."

The fan that will be sitting directly above the CPU will have magnets in it.

The inventors said that the processors will run much cooler than normal CPUs. This might mean that a fan wouldn't be needed and simply a heatsink would be enough.

Itll be like Futurama when Bender goes crazy when he gets a magnet stuck to his head. You stick a magnet to your CPU and itll go nuts lol.
