What do you mean neva mind ddr2? DDR2 is far superior to DDR! Plus Id be going from 2x512MB of DDR2 533 to 4x1GB of DDR2 667, sounds enticing LOL.

i think he meant that even 4GB of pc 3200 would be good for whatever, never mind the fact that it's ddr2, which makes it all the better

Actually, he has an AMD so maybe he meant he would get it if it wasnt DDR2 (which wouldnt work for him) but either way, could I get some more opinions on it? I think im adding a poll.

Well if you DO have a need for 4gigs of ram, which I cant even imagine lol, then go for it. I'd say to get 2gigs of OCZ XTC or something along those lines (some very high end stuff) so it'll oc and run efficiently. What do you currently have? What kind of corsair is it?

This? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145558

Thats decent for DDR2. The lowest I've seen is like 3-2-2-8 and thats at stock speeds. Its not uncommon for DDR2 to be running at 5-5-5-15 etc. Most decent ram comes at 3-3-3-8 but thats for 512 sticks not 1024 sticks.

if you want and need 4gb of ram on an intel platform, then by all means, GO FOR IT! the memory controller is alot better than that the on-die AMD ones, so you'll have no problems with it that i know of

but windows will only recognize/show 3gb of memory, unless you have a 64-bit supporting OS (eg: windows server 2003), but the machine will still utilize the 4gb of memory that you have

you also might want to take a look at the 2x1gb kits of OCZ DDR2-667 Gold if you can find it - overall much better ram, the g.skill DDR2 is kinda junk stuff, though their plain DDR is amazing (best TCCD out)

edit: with 2.3v micron D9 "fatbody" DDR2 chips will run 3-2-2-4 timings quite easily - ddr2 timings are a totally different world from ddr timings
