Post Your Server!!! - Page 114

Server that I currently have for personal use:

Dell PowerEdge 1900
Single 3.00GHz Intel Xeon X5365
10GB Fully Buffered ECC SDRAM
Single 800 Watt PSU
Dell XM771 Perc 5i SAS Raid Controller
Dual 1TB Seagate Barracuda Hard Drives in a RAID1 Configuration
Single Broadcom BCM5708 Ethernet Card

VMWare ESXi 5.1.0
Virtual Machines Running on Host:
- Windows Server 2003R2
- Windows 7 Ultimate

I also a bunch of HP DL385G1s lying around with dual 2.4GHz AMD Opteron processors and 16GB of memory each. Looking to re-purpose these for something or sell them, right now they're used as test servers for miscellaneous projects I'm given.

Pictures soon. thumb.gif

OK finally getting to posting up my setup:

From top to Bottom (left to right):

OpenIndiana based ZFS storage, Perc 6i/r flashed to IT firmware with two pools:
-x4 147GB Seagate Cheetah15k Drives in Raidz1
-x4 250GB 7.2k Seagate Barracuda Drives in Raidz1

Dell Dimension 3000 acting as router running PFsense
Cisco Catalyst 4006 with Supervisor Engine II, 1 48 port 10/100 module and 1 24 port gigabit module
x3 Poweredge 1950's with Dual Xeon 5050 and 8GB of Ram
x2 Poweredge 2950 (currently powered off and used just for test use when needed)
x1 Poweredge SC1435 with Dual Opteron 2380 and 16GB of Ram

At the moment I'm getting ready to set these up in a ESXI High Avaibility Cluster. Nothing up and running yet as the Xeon 5000 series isn't supported for HA (keeping eyes peeled for Xeon 5100's which are). I have about x6 other 1950's sitting in the corner that are missing CPU/RAM that I might be adding in later on.

Another upgrade I'm tempted to do is get a Supervisor Engine II+ for my Catalyst 4006, as I won't have to deal with CatOS and can use IOS which makes managing my setup alot easier.

Also my 42U rack is currently in my shed, which hopefully this summer once snow all this equipment will be on it.

And before anyone asks I do own all of the hardware tongue.gif

Core 0 and Core 1 are 11 degrees apart... You might need to reset your heatsink.

I'm not going to re-seat the Intel stock heatsink:. From what I've come to learn around these forums is the further away temps are from TDP the more inaccurate they are. It could also be due to Intel's choice of using pigeon poop for thermal paste between the die and IHS.

Or the HSF isn't on there correctly.

It's on there correctly, there's only one way it can be put on. It's not my first time around the block. Besides, there's no way in Santa's workshop that my basement is 6c so what does that tell you laughingsmiley.gif

There's a shocking lack of UNIX in this thread.

OS: OpenBSD 5.1 (preparing to make the move to 5.2 as we speak)
Case: Dell OEM case
CPU: 1.6 GHz Pentium 4
Motherboard
RAM: 512 MB (DDR [as in DDR 1], I think)
PSU: Whatever generic crap came with the box.
OS HDD: 100 GB IDE drive. Not sure what manufacturer.
Server manufacturer: Dell.

To be honest, it's a generic Dell box I stole off the side of the road one evening.
It's currently set up as a router for my room network and as a web server (for the heck of it).
It's interesting to accumulate some networking experience.

Those clamshell cases are the worst. Luckily Dell didn't stick with that design for very long.
