OS: ESXI
Case: N/A
CPU: 4x Quad core 8347HE 1.9ghz
Motherboard: DL585 G2
Memory: 32GB (16x2GB)
PSU: Redundant
OS HDD (If you have one): USB Stick
Storage HDD(s): 3x500GB Raid 5
Server Manufacturer (Ex: Dell, HP, You?): HP

HP DL585 G2, upgraded to quad cores (G2, G5 and G6 are identical), Used for virtualisation for training, currently have 18 VM's on it simulating a whole network (3 servers, 14 desktops and 1 "wallboard" PC) which are all exact copies of some of the things at work

Will in the future be moved into my rack at work where i run my own servers for testing and mucking about on (aswell as into an airconned room as it generates quite a bit of heat)

Power usage is 285 watts idling (was 335 or so with 4xdual core 2.6ghz and 16GB (8x2GB), not sure when 100% CPU/Memory load but im sure it'll scare my bank balance

Pics are before i upgraded the memory and CPU's (stock was 4x2.6ghz dual core and 8x2GB dimm), new thermal paste is MX5 so should result in nice temps

about 5-10% as its just idling, none of the virtual servers really do anything intensive (Exchange, Active directory, Fileshare etc), its mostly just so i borderline have a copy of the office so i can test things ie.......defragging the exchange DB completly FUBAR'ed it and because it was in the test enviroment.......i didnt get put up against the wall blindfolded and shot tongue.gif

AMD Phenom II x4 940 (Underclocked to 2ghz)
ASUS M3A78-EM Micro-ATX motherboard
2x2GB DDR2-800 (plan on upgrading to 8 gigs once my main rig gets switched over to a DDR3 board)
Integrated Radeon HD 3200 graphics (ewww)
160GB, 120GB, and 40GB HDDs (40 is OS, rest is storage)
Win7 Ultimate 32-bit (will upgrade to 64-bit in the future

Not a true server as i use it directly on a regular basis as a web browsing machine, but it does perform some minor fileserver functions and in the future i intend on running a gameserver or two on it. No pix of the guts because frankly its horrid inside, and it doesnt help that its in a re-used HP case. The largest fans the case supports is 80mm and that is officially only in one spot. I had to ghetto rig in 2 more 70mm fans, one right next to the processor (intake), and another on the expansion slots (Exhaust) so the processor is not continually recycling the same air, heating up, and becoming a noisy little bastard (CPU fan maxed does 5500 RPM, push/pull fans are 6500, made worse by 13 blades instead of 7). This machine IS right next to my head.

Part3 is online now! thumb.gif

I did some hardware changes so now i have 6x 3tb in raidz2 and 2x 500gb mirror for boot and torrent. I also put in a IBM M1015 for more sata channels.

The OS is back to ZFSguru. I love the disk management system. And the speeds are great 110+ over nfs and 100+ over samba!

Also i measured the idle power consumption of every single part. So there is a nice overview in power consumption.

I made some benchmarks and show my UPS

Finally all cleaned up!

Specs:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
8GB DDR2 RAM
x2 200GB SATA in RAID 1 for OS
x4 3TB SATA in RAID 5 for data
OS: Windows Server 2008 R2

I'm currently working on getting a 1U case to put my Intel Atom board in for a new pfSense system. It's time to replace my WatchGuard Firebox II.
