This, seriously, who cares what he uses it for, it's obvious anyway, burning discs, the semantics are irrelevant as the purpose of the server has been established. :-)

Have you actually read this argument from the beginning because I actually never said he was. Quite the opposite in fact; I assumed he wasn't and asked why he didn't get his stuff pressed instead. He was the one who got defensive. And let's be honest, the why he's since conducted himself has been pretty weird (again, not an accusation, just a statement)

One of the mandates for posting in this sodding thread is a description of what it's used for. Check page one of this thread if you don't believe me. So don't give me that crap that nowbody cares because that's the whole sodding point of this thread.

Furthermore, everyone else managed to follow those rules yet the other guy hadn't which is why I asked him (and then he got all defensive like a guilty child). I mean what's the bloody point in posting a server in a "show your server" thread without a description of what the server is used for?

I might as well just post a server and say it's for "serving stuff" then, seeming as this thread has now degenerated into playschool "show and tell" except with even less informative content rolleyes.gif

I actually edited that post just after posting it and before your comment as I realised it didn't come out right. I agree that people need to say what the server is for...

Not really. "burning stuff" is about as descriptive as saying a VM server "virtualises stuff". People on here would equally then go on to ask "what VM's are you thinking of running?".

Also, let's get one thing clear, I never asked him to elaborate what he's burning; not initially. I only asked why he didn't press discs instead given it appears he's burning them on a large scale. He ignored that question, answered all the non-server related questions and started to behave erratic in this thread, so it's hardly surprising that I jumped to the assumption that he had something to hide (and clearly he has. I mean just look at the way he's behaving: post a box then refuse to answer any questions about what it's used for. That's not weird in the slightest rolleyes.gif.).

But the crux of the matter is, if he didn't want us to talk about the purpose of the server in any detail then he really shouldn't have posted the server to begin with (it's the same reason why I've not posted my work infrastructure. I've love to show it off but I couldn't really talk about it in detail so there's little point in posting any pictures of the racks). So with all this arguing and make me out to be the bad guy here, I was only asking questions that most people might have asked in this thread on any other day (or at least most people who work with servers everyday and have an interest in servers).

Anyway, I think we're this topic is done to death now. You've said your piece, I've said mine, and tiro_uspsss has made it clear that he he would rather not talk about the server that he's just publicised. So matter closed?

I disagree, there is a limited domain of burning tasks. Simply saying "I'm burning stuff" is sufficient for me (and then people can extrapolate as they wish)

Though for virtualising, there is a huge amount more that you can do so certainly more justification would be needed in that case.

FWIW, I too really like this thread and enjoy reading the descriptions in all their detail

So if you guys are fed up with the direction this thread has taken, you're all just a guilty as the burn-server guy and myself for turning it into a piracy debate.

Yes I did notice what your initial question was, he seemed to have taken it in an accusatory way.

Though perhaps your comments did have an accusatory connotation to them. However, personally I would not have taken them as such.

I don't care if it's a burnt CD or pressed (or whatever), as long as it's not just MP3 tracks on there. If I can extract FLACs from the CD, I will never touch the physical copy again.

Take that conversation elsewhere please, and stick to showing off servers here!
