here is a picture of my setup.
IMG_1501.JPG

basically top left server is an old HP ML150G2 serving as a pfsense 2.0 firewall (xeon 2.8, 2gb ram 2x80gb RAID1, 4x10/100/1000 intel adapters)

top right is a windows 2008 r2 fileserver/domain controller (some hp quad core crap with a ghetto raid setup 1x 350gb, 1x500gb, 1x750gb) that will soon be moved to my "backup site"

bottom left is one of the 2 main 2008 R2 file servers. currently this is an old ahtlon xp 4800+ with 2gb ram and 8x500GB raid5 array that holds some media.

bottom right is an athlon be-2350 with 8gb ram that host xenserver (some win2k machines that runs domain duties and some trixboxes for VOIP duties)

on we have a fiber trunk that runs between my basement and my neighbours basement (redundant site) and he host another 10TBs of storage and some other VMs on his vmware host.

oh and my ghetto rack made of 2x4 leftovers from my patio smile.gif

Server 1: Vmware 5.0 HP DL320 G4 1x Pentium D 3.2Ghz 8gb DDR2 ram 1x 80gb (Vmware OS and Iso storage) 1x500gb (VM's and their drives.)

Server 2: Vmware 5.0 1x Xeon x3220 2.4GHz (Quad) 6gb DDR3 (Would be 8, but dead mobo slot) Evga 790i SLI FTW board. 1x500 for OS a few system drives, and a couple 2.5" drives for more storage (Honestly dont use this server right now, dont need as many vm's for a while)

Server 3: Windows server 2003 AMD Quad core, 2gb ram. 3u Server case, 12x 500gb hot swap drives, goes un-used- need to find a cheap PCIe video card for it, and a little more ram.

I work with a network consulting company that serves primarily small to medium-sized agricultural businesses. Most of our deployments are single server (DC and DB server) or two servers (DC/DB on one server, and then RDS/TS on the other box) so I was pleased when we finally got to do a three-server install. Yeah, I'm easily excited. I wont name the company, but I'll bet you've eaten fruit that went through this facility.

Server 1:

OS: Windows Server 2008 x64 Enterprise Edition
CPU: Dual intel Xeon X5650's
Memory: 24GB ECC DDR3 1066
HDD: 8 x 2.5" 10k 146GB SAS
Server Maker: Dell R710

Purpose: Domain Controller, file and print server

Server 2:

OS: Windows Server 2008 x64 Standard Edition
CPU: Dual intel Xeon X5650's
Memory: 24GB ECC DDR3 1066
HDD: 6 x 2.5" 15k 146GB SAS
Server Maker: Dell R710

Purpose: Oracle database server

Server 3:

OS: Windows Server 2003 x86 Standard Edition
CPU: intel Xeon X3450
Memory: 4GB ECC DDR3 1066
HDD: 2 x 2.5" 15k 300GB SAS (RAID 1)
Server Maker: Dell R310

Purpose: Application server

Here's a couple pics:

Server 2 and Server 3, getting staged:

In the rack:

There's an R300 and an Optiplex 360 in there too. Not sure of the specs on either; the Opti controls their sprinklers and the 300 will eventually be brought on as a secondary DC.

Yea, it likes ram, and you need decent upload speed to host. I only have like 2.5 mb upload and can only host like 6-8 people before it gets laggy.

Wow. That really is bad. I have no hope then, with a 0.25mb up :/...
