I run this as a headless server operating 24/7 for streaming Plex to a few friends (and myself), and for CPU folding. With all 32 threads running 100% 24/7, I'm pulling about 180W and getting about 60K PPD.
Although this board has 2 ethernet ports, I'm only using 1 since I'm running a VPN. Considering how long it took to get the various programs to work with the VPN (especially Plex for remote access), I kind of regret not looking into how to direct traffic from specific programs to a specific port. Maybe in the future...
After spending nearly $5000 on this, I decided to hold off on getting a GPU for folding (1060 vs 1070 anyone?), and will be installing additional 6TB Red drives as needed. I was originally planning on installing 32GB of RAM, but honestly don't think I would every need that much for my use.
(I'm sorry, but it's not pretty).
I had to cut the ODD bay in order to fit the cooler on CPU 2.Edited by mbmumford - 7/29/16 at 5:18pm
