two more years to wait then if they're still working on it. I would love to get my hands on a hard drive like this. That would really help in video editing and 3d animation. I did a 5 minute 3d animation on one of my older computers about 2 years ago, and it took 2 days to render and weighed in at 96GB when it was done... It would take tons of space to render a whole 20 minute video like that, a job well suited for a drive of such capacity.

I have around 3tb's of hdd space in my house, both external and internal and I download A lot... and I haven't come close to filling it all up.

But I wouldn't mind having unlimited space like that...

Less then 25 odd years ago I was using a 40Mb hard disk and that was plenty for the time. Now I have around 4Tb at home at about 50% (average) full. A 1Pb disk is closer then you think. With the volume of data being created, particularly digital media (which in itself is growing in size per unit because of increased quality), 1Pb won't seem that much in 25 years....

And the price will back that up.

However the big issue is for home users, yeah we could use it. But only if the bandwidth of the internet could be increased an insane amount.

I realize this news was very interesting. And you only have two posts so far. But this isn't a good start. In the future please mind the age of threads, and mind that the community does not like it when people revive very old threads. Which isn't as much of a problem in other sections, but this is news. News should be new. See what i am saying buddy?
