yeah 5 years ago, ppl said a tb would never be used to its full capacity and now look, but wait, how long do you think it would take even the highest clocked i7's to defrag a petabyte, lmao , gg

Guys be merciful and let this thread die... it is more then three years old. Obviously this "new" technology didn't work out because I certainly haven't heard anything about it. As such lets all be responsible, and let this disappear back into the archives.

So what you're saying is that you would fill up a drive that would be (theoretically speaking) 240 times larger than what you currently have?

Imagine you had a 1.2 PB drive and you just decided to fill it up with stuff. The rate at which you can fill it is 250 GB per month (rate courtesy of comcast ). It would take a person 400 years to fill that one drive.

So while the drive sounds great for servers, i really don't see how anyone would need one for personal use.

EDIT: sorry, i missed the previous post, just disregard this post (hint, don't do what i did)

I personally see this as a disatvantage. If space is not a premium, then compression software will see a decline. We'd still fill up our drives just as fast...
