Question answered. Thanks, everyone!

Hi, ALL.

I'm about to build my first rig and have received all the parts except the CPU cooler and optical drive. While I'm waiting for the remaining parts to arrive, is there any way to test the power supply unit and case fans - see if they work?

I've been reading a lot of reviews on newegg where a lot off ppl receive components that are dead on arrival. I just wanna make sure that all of mine work and not waste any time in case I do need to return/replace anything.

Thanks in advance.

Doesn't that mean you have the stock cpu cooler? Just run it on a torture box. Just hook up the power button from the case, and try running your comp with just cpu and ram

Connect all the fans you want to the PSU.
Do not plug the PSU into a wall.
Connect the green wire and any one of the black wires on the 24 pin using a paperclip or any conductor.
Plug into the wall and flip the switch.

WOW! Great responses and quick, too!

Thanks, everyone! Very helpful.

I just boxed everything back up, 'cause I'm about to have dinner.

I will try it first chance I get tomorrow.

Thanks again, everyone!

The test worked! My PSU turned on and powered up all the fans in my case.

Thank you so much, everyone!

And thank you OCN.

Now I have to try to find a guide to test every other component individually.
