Basically saying that in multiplayer games if your in say a firefight youll have to yell into the microphone for others to hear you (like in real life). Or if your sneaking and whisper a nearby enemy could also hear you. That is a very cool realism add.. I think Nintendo could go further with this to, like incorporating it in-game in 1 player games...
Lol maybe its a good i dea but you will look like a nutcase shouting at a small plastic object in your hands.

Could have swore I say the word DS in there.

Maybe I should go to sleep earlier.

I can understand why some people don't like the yelling part. But frankly, screw 'em. If implemented well, this would add a level of realism to some games. Don't play these games on a DS on a crowded bus.

However, I don't think it will be used in your Halo or BF2 type games. I think game developers will simply say that all of the users are on the same comm frequency, so there is no need to shout for your teammates to hear you. Good and reasonable excuse for them to not have to learn how to use the new technology.

Where I think this could be really cool is in the MMORPG world. One of my big pet peeves are the zillions of chat messages scrolling across dozens of "channel" windows. Back in the UO days we didn't have crap windows like that: talking people could be "heard" if you were on the same screen, and "yells" could be "heard" up to two screens away (the text appeared on the edge of the screen). Proximity speaking in its primitive form, but it worked well.

This technology would be a great way to introduce real voice communications into MMORPGs in the same way, without overwhelming users with a cacophony of sound. If you're nearby, you hear people. If not, you don't. Death to the unrealistic capability for clan members to speak to other in real time from across the continent (without using some magic ability to do so, anyway).
