Elder Scrolls: Oblivion

Are there any die hard, hardcore, mediocre, so-so or even just plain old fans of the Elder Scrolls series? Anyone else itching to waste hours and hours of their lives playing this game, just like we did with Morrowind, and loving every minute of it? Finally, hours of playing something else other than online games, which do get repetitive in their own right IMO.

I was one of the first to get ready for morrowind. Bought my XBOX for it. All my friends hated it, but I loved it. Converted one of my friends, then he was obsessed with it too. I had well over 500 hours of play racked up before I pretty much stopped playing.

I'm really looking foward to it! I only really got into morrowind last year as a bunch of guys that I lived with all played... so I spend hours and hours playing. I basically had the game beat but I lost interest... the new one looks amazing and if money permits I plan to get it.

I love the Elderscrolls series and have played almost every one execpt Arena. I remember Daggerfalls for DOS way back in the day and spending days downloading the 10 bagillion patches required to make it run semi-flawlessly. I can't wait for Oblivion to be finally released on March 20th of this year. I'm going to get the PC version, obviously, because I must have a keyboard+mouse to play this right in my opinion.

Oh Oblivion...must have...cannot survive without it.

Have you guys seen the German video?
It shows the RAD AI in action, NPC's actually talk to each other now!

I played Arena back in the 486 era. Man...what a piece of crap. Every NPC looked the same, so it was hard to find the right person for quests. There were a jillion dungones, sure; but they were all pretty much exactly the same inside. You would walk into an empty dead-end room, turn around, and then your disk drive would start spinning to clue you in that a monster had just spawned behind you in that "empty" room. (This was not a rare occurrence, it happened all the frickin time.) Yuck.

I was so turned off by Arena that I never wanted to play ELder Scrolls again. And then the million-and-one reports of horrible problems with Daggerfall simply cemented that feeling. Morrowind got mostly positive reviews and feedback, so maybe I'll be willing to give Oblivion a try when it comes out. But frankly, I'm more interested in making time for old RPGs like Planescape Torment, or finishing Baldur's Gate 2, than the new Elder Scrolls offering.

Well I liked Arena, and I really liked Daggerfall. Morrowind is an awesome game that I still play now and again. I simply cannot wait until Oblivion comes out. To tell you the truth I'm kinda bored with FPS's. There all the same, run around in a linear level and kill the bad guys....ugh. C'mon Oblivion. Anybody know when the official release date is?
