Not sure about your mobo but everyone seems to be having the same trouble .But considering i have mine o/ced without a problem(fast as heck) i would try em out and check the O/c ability before rmaing them

It could be your motherboard. I've used my sticks in 3 different computers and not had a problem with any of them.

I have the plats - check my sig.
The SPD timings according to CPU-Z are:
2.5-3-2-5
When I first stuck them in the command rate was 2T
Went into BIOS and they work just fine at 2-3-2-5 1T Auto Voltage, Auto HTT (which on my Asus A8N-E is 201.7 for some reason).

It could be your mobo. UCCC ICs won't work at all in my mobo, but I bought the plats because I know they work in Asus A8N-Es and SLIs.

The platinums are usually OCZs overclocker line of memory. At newegg people are running the plats (with loosened timings of course) at DDR 460, DDR490, DDR480 (at 3-3-3-7 stable 2.6v), but a lot of people report that they haven't been able to OC very much.

There are also a lot of people complaining that the plats don't overclock well at 2-3-2-5...They need to go read up on basic overclocking.

I'd say if you really want to overclock, then get some PC4000 RAM:

When I wanted to OC my 2.4C to 3GHz, I picked up some DDR550 G.Skill LE TCCD 440s and went to town.

how much of a speed difference is it gonna be to run these at 2.5-2-3-5 than at 2-3-2-5?

and i tried oc'ing just a little, like to 230x11 and they wouldnt even do that. although, i didnt try loosening the timing any.

what do yall think? should i rma em and get a replacement set, different set,....etc?

Not entirely sure, I has mine at 2.5-3-3-5 1T DDR467 and it was pretty darn fast.

Bump it up to 2.8V, if you can't get it to boot after a little OC then I would return them since a few of us can get a decent OC out of them

Ya, you'll need to loosen the timings to run them faster.
Try: 250mhz @ 3-3-3-8 2.75v
